All dog owners know that they should be bathing their pet regularly, but just how often does a dog need to be bathed?
Below, we’ll discuss this, plus how you can get dog bathing services right here at Sunset Vet Clinic!
Frequency of Bathing Your Dog
First of all, it depends. There are three main factors that you’ll want to consider:
- Activity level: Does your dog stay inside most of the time or are they always rolling in the mud, playing in the forest, and digging holes.
- Hair length: Unfortunately, the longer the hair, the more often baths are needed. Long hair can often get dirt, bugs, and other debris caught in it while short hair is a little bit more sanitary.
- Skin conditions or allergies: This one can go either way. If your dog has skin conditions or allergies, they may need baths more often — or less often.
In general, however, you should be dog bathing (or pet bathing for other animals like cats) at least once every three months or as often as every other week.
Does Your Dog Need a Bath?
Sunset Veterinary Clinic can help if your dog is in need of a good scrub down! We offer dog bathing services right here at the clinic to get your canine friend spoofed up for a special occasion or just because.
Remember that dogs must be bathed (and cats too) because even though they may look relatively clean, they’ve often been rolling and snooping around outside where it’s dirty and where medical issues can be traced back to. Especially if you notice an odd odor from your dog, it may be time for a bath.
